Builders Club is a middle school version of Key Club. Our motto is, "Building Leaders", and that is exactly the mission of the Shelby Junior High Builders Club. Each month, we do one service project to benefit the community, and we also organize one fun activity for the student body at Shelby Junior High. For example, our December service project in 2013 was a jean drive, and our November fun activity in 2013 was a Thanksgiving scavenger hunt (see events for more information). The unique thing about Builders Club is that the students are the leaders of meetings and events. The president is mainly in charge of meetings, the vice president comes up with icebreaker activities, the secretary writes the minutes for each meeting, the historian takes pictures and updates the website, and the sergeant of arms manages time at meetings, just to name a few. Also, committees are formed to help plan each event and make sure that everything goes smoothly. Everyone in the school is welcome to join Builders Club, and its purpose is to help students develop strong leadership skills. Students are given the opportunity to turn their ideas into something that truly makes a difference. Builders Club supports the idea that if students put their mind to something, they can change the world.
